What Material You Will Need

If you are like most homeowners, you probably don’t give much thought to your fence until something goes wrong. Maybe a post starts to rot, or the pickets fall off. The first thing you need to do is assess the damage. Take a look at your fence and determine what needs to be repaired. Once you have done that, you need to gather the material you will need for the repair. Here is a list of material you will need, depending on the type of damage:

-Rotted wood: You will need new lumber to replace the rotted sections. Be sure to get pressure-treated lumber so it will last longer.

-Missing pickets: You can either buy new pickets or reuse the ones that are already on your fence. If you are reusing pickets, make sure they are in good condition and not too worn down.

-Loose nails/screws: Replace any loose nails or screws with new ones.

-Cracks in the concrete: You will need to patch the cracks with cement.

Vynil fence:

-Torn pickets: You will need to buy new pickets to replace the ones that are torn.

-Missing rails: You will need to buy new rails to replace the ones that are missing.

-Damaged posts: You can either repair the posts or replace them entirely. If you are repairing them, you will need to use a post repair kit.
